Elaine Corvidae
Elaine Corvidae was born in Jacksonville, FL, in 1971. Two years
later, she found herself in North Carolina, where she has remained
ever since. During her childhood, her mother encouraged her
imagination and gave her The Hobbit for a present on her fifth
birthday. At age eight, Elaine declared her intention to be a writer
someday, a goal that never changed.
After high school, Elaine went on to major in anthropology, meeting
the love of her life at age 19. She spent the next few years working
first as an archaeologist, then as an administrative assistant. At
age 26 and went back to school to get a degree in biology. She also
began to volunteer at a raptor rehabilitation center near Charlotte,
and was hired on staff a few years later.
Throughout all of these many changes, Elaine continued to write. She
completed her first novel, WOLFKIN, in 1996, but four years of
frustration and rejection passed before it was finally accepted for
publication by Hard Shell Word Factory. During those years, she
wrote three other books (THE GHOST EATER, WINTER'S ORPHANS, and
TYRANT MOON), all of which are currently under contract with
up-and-coming publisher, NovelBooks, Inc.
Elaine currently lives near Charlotte, NC, with her husband and three
wonderful cats. A glutton for punishment, she is busy earning her
Master's degree in biology. She enjoys backpacking, vegetarian
dining, good beer, and loud music. She also loves to hear from her
readers, so email her at elaine@onecrow.net.
