Marguerite Krause

In her own words...

"I began reading fantasy and science fiction in grade school, wrote my first story in junior high, and have been writing ever since. Other accomplishments over the years have included a master's degree in music (I play French Horn in a local community orchestra), a joyful marriage, raising two children (one in college, one serving in the Peace Corps in Samoa), and steady work as a freelance editor for a variety of regional and national book and magazine publishers.

Some of my favorite SF and fantasy authors include Barbara Hambly, Terry Pratchett, Anne McCaffrey, Lois McMasters Bujold, and Larry Niven. In film and television, I like stories that involve at least an attempt at respect for the "science" part of science fiction. As for fantasy, one of the most amazing movies in recent memory is Ang Lee's Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. Although I've enjoyed Star Trek since the original series aired, my heart truly belongs to the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine incarnation of that universe.

I love good live theatre of all kinds -- Broadway musicals, intimate dramas, Shakespeare -- and I love to travel! Our family has taken many summer driving vacations -- exploring the continental United States, visiting and camping in state and national parks and forests along the way. (I enjoy many kinds of outdoor recreation, including hiking, backpacking, skiing, sailing, and SCUBA diving.) Our family has also made a few special trips over the years to England, Scotland, and Hong Kong.... and with a daughter now living in Samoa, the destination for our next big trip is pretty obvious!"
