Shirley Rousseau Murphy
Shirley Rousseau Murphy has been a painter and sculptor, exhibiting extensively
in juried shows and museums on the west coast and in Mexico and Panama; she
has worked as a commercial artist and interior designer, and has written many
books for children as well as adults, including a winner of a Parents' Choice
Award, a Junior Literary Guild selection, and five Dixie Council of Authors and
Journalists Awards. Most of her stories are centered around animals--cats,
dogs, horses, speaking dragons, speaking wolves and a nation of talking otters.
She is a member of Sisters in Crime, Mystery Writers of America,
American Crime Writers League, Cat Writers' Association, the
Library Cat Society and the Authors Guild. Her mystery novels Cat
Under Fire, Cat Raise the Dead and Cat in the Dark won the Cat
Writers' Association's Muse Medallion Award in three successive
years.
Murphy and her husband have recently moved from a lake cabin in north Georgia to a cottage on the central
California coast in a small village very much like her mystery setting of Molena Point. "This is my favorite of all
possible worlds--a charming, casual, pretty little town where murder is all the more shocking--and where Joe
Grey and Dulcie are right in their element, hunting down human predators."
