Goddess, Azuni. Some Immigrant groups such as the Red
Rock Folk have existed on Azuni for thousands of years.
Others like the Maelaithi mercenary army, their
courtesan-clone camp followers and a half-dozen 'Mericans
warped into the planet during the last three years. The
Maelaithi, now serve the Red Rock Folk as mercenaries.
The Folks' telepathic Rangers sense strong psychic abilities in
Little Claw but John Ravenwood sees only a mute teenager
terrified of his own kind. He adopts Little Claw and brings him
to the grain farm.
The Maelaithi major's discarded courtesan-clone male lover,
Consort Lytiss, befriends Little Claw and teaches him to
speak. Little Claw teaches Lytiss to meditate during which
Lytiss receives a prophecy of war.
